Doing Good IS Good for Your Business

Australia’s history with it’s Indigenous community has sparked strong calls for reconciliation to be the responsibility of all Australians, and not merely left to Governments.  Bibbulmun makes it possible for our customers to play their part, however large or small, by contributing to meaningful initiatives which go beyond handouts by empowering Indigenous Australians to build a better future for themselves and their community.

What is Bibbulmun?

The name ‘Bibbulmun’ represents one of fourteen clans of the Noongar Nation of the southwest of Western Australia and Bibbul means ‘paperbark’ in the Noongar language.  It is reflective of the life-giving connection between our ancient land and it’s many uses; in this instance, paperbark represents the closest thing to stationery in a contemporary context.  While the Fund’s name, Bibbulmun, originates in Western Australia, the founders recognise the rich tapestry of connection across our nation.

Doornjil Yoor-dininy – ‘Coming together to create and sustain partnerships for mutual growth’

While establishing Kulbardi, Australia’s largest Aboriginal-owned stationery supplier, Kim Collard had a vision to go beyond corporate outcomes and into the realms of social and economic Aboriginal community development.  Part-proceeds from the sale of Bibbulmun products are channelled to the Bibbulmun Fund, which supports Indigenous communities by developing and implementing community-based programs.  Bibbulmun products offer a simple way for customers to give back to Indigenous Australia, and for organisations to meet their corporate social responsibility targets.

Supporting the Bibbulmun Fund

The Bibbulmun Fund invests in targeted community projects that are run by community members and have support from local leaders.  It encourages, supports and inspires Indigenous communities across Australia.  The Bibbulmun Fund designs and delivers programs around entrepreneurship, education, numeracy and literacy.  This includes scholarships, work-ready programs, reclaiming culture and language courses, youth diversionary programs, elder camps and leadership programs.
